Dear Readers,

Whether you are already in clinical data management or an aspiring clinical data manager, the Summer Issue of the Journal for the Society of Clinical Data Management provides valuable insights for all. “Internships in Clinical Data Science: A Brief Report” and “Transformation from Data Management to Data Science Enabled Organization – Where Are We Heading?” address the current challenges and opportunities for growth in our industry.

This Summer Issue also can inspire further discussion regarding various methodologies for clinical data standardization. “Representing Clinical Study Schedule of Activities as FHIR Resources: Required Characteristic Attributes” provides an opportunity to learn more about the HL7 FHIR interoperability standard that is used not only to streamline the collection of research data but also to comply with the HL7 Vulcan Schedule of Assessments Project Implementation Guide. “Clinical Data Warehousing: A Scoping Review” presents an extensive systematic literature review that addresses the need for further development of Clinical Data Warehouses (CDW). CDISC takes the concept of Clinical Data Warehousing (CDW) even further with an intriguing view on moving away from institutional-level standards to a globally compliant platform that users can share with each other in “Need for Data Standardization and Infrastructure of Research Data Management to Promote Using Real-world Data”.

It is our hope that you enjoy the collection of articles in this Summer Issue.

Sincerely,

Claudine Moore, MM, CCDM©

JSCDM Chief Editor
